What is it about principles that makes politicos so uncomfortable?
Joe Lieberman (why was he at the GOP Convention in '08?) has become Mr. Obama's newest cheerleader.

Little late for that bandwagon, aren't you Joe? Are you going to start wearing Green Day tee shirts and mention your affinity for "that new-fangled email"?
If Obama was bad for America in September, he is bad for America in March. Actually- he's worse now. As Iran continues to win the war of time and North Kore makes more threats, Obama offers candy and flowers to win their hearts. Makes me wonder if Joe's concerns aren't about what's bad for America- the real question, at the heart of most politicians, is: what's good for me?
Joe Lieberman has changed positions on many issues. On affirmative action he coined the stupid slogan: I don't want to end it, I want to amend it (as if rhyming makes the reversal any more palatable) during the 2000 campaign. Principles can be such a nuisance when you are trying to win an election.
What is most upsetting about Joe is not the lane changing but his relentless support of a party that tried earnestly to defeat him in 2006. Why not really leave the democrats, Joe? Jump ship- stop caucusing with the DNC, stop electing their members to leadership. You will argue that you lean more to the left than the right- but any more so than Snowe, Collins or Specter?
Poor Joe- principles are buzzing all around his head like bees out of their hive. Let's hope some begin to stick.
NB this isn't just a democrat issue. Check out this article about Sam Brownback (one of my least favorite Republicans):

Remember Sam- don't let those principles get in the way on your search for higher office!
